Watching my students write

There’s just that moment…

When shoulders are hunched over keyboards.

Fingers moving.

Brains at work

Choosing just the right word

Reading the sentence.

And changing the word.

Again.

Two heads lean in together

Eyes explore the other’s work

A question is asked.

There is an answer I cannot hear.

But I can see the nod.  The smile.

At last, the perfect word is found.

And the typing begins again.

That’s a big reason why we even try to have workshop, isn’t it?

This is great! I love how wrote about one moment – really, one second – in time. I can just picture you sitting there, watching. So great.

The poem format worked really well here, too.

Wow, what a watchful eye you have! I can see you, smile on your face, sitting there and watching them. You created that. Not just the poem, the space for them. So they can do that! How lucky they are!
